Final of the Easter Snooker Doubles Tournament raises money for a new cloth for the Club Snooker Table

Congratulations to John McDonnell and Eddie Williams

who won the Final of the Easter Snooker doubles tournament on Monday 29th April.

Mike Weldon and Willie Prendergast were honourably defeated by John and Eddie in a tight final.  The first frame was won on the pink, the next went to a re-spotted black and the final frame was won on the blue.

A big thank you to the sponsors, Austin Gill, John McDonnell, Mike Weldon, Paul Kenny, Willie Prendergast and Anthony Doyle.

The event raised €170 towards the cost of the new cloth. The total raised is €490, an excellent response to the clubs request to assist with finances this year.  Thanks to all contributors.

In September a doubles competition will be run for all members.  The format will be a handicap league with 1 doubles frame, and four short rack ( 6 reds ) singles frames per round.  Entries will be invited in August.

The Snooker Committee wishes one and all a wonderful Summer.

Irish Mixed Foursomes Team unlucky against Beaverstown

Hard luck to Skerries

who went down 3.5-1.5 to Beaverstown in the second round of the Irish Mixed Foursomes on Sunday.

The standard of golf was excellent and a few putts here and there was all that separated the two teams in the end.  Best of luck to Beaverstown for the rest of the competition.

Thanks to a great Skerries panel.  Photo shows our home team on the first tee.

Super Saturday for Skerries Teams

Congratulations to our Ladies Junior Cup team, our Ladies Intermediate team and our Boys Junior team.

Congratulations to our Ladies Junior Cup team (managed by Hilda Cussen) who beat Ardee Golf Club 3:2 on Saturday  in Greenore.  All were tight matches in very difficult conditions for golf.

The second Skerries win of the day went to the Ladies Intermediate team, managed by Patricia MacClancy, beating Blackbush Golf Club today in Hollystown.  Skerries won four matches.  The fifth match was 2 up and was called in going to the 16th.

Another great result for our boys junior team that won their Irish Foursomes match 5 up against a very strong Malahide team at Malahide today.

The tie is based on the aggregate score of the two pairings and was settled when we were 3up on the 17th and 2up on the 16th.

Corporate Golf Day Friday 31st May

Support the Club Corporate Golf Day on Friday 31st May 2019

The tee is reserved on Friday 31st May from 10.30AM to 3.30PM for the 2019 Corporate Golf Day.
The format is a four-Person Team Rumble [any combination]. Handicaps are limited to a maximum of 28 for men and 36 for ladies.
The Entry Fee of €200 per team includes meals for the team members in our restaurant.

The purpose of our Corporate Day is to celebrate with friends and business partners the feel good factor which is very evident in our Club so far this year.
The reconstruction of the 3rd and 5th greens by Dar Golf to the excellent re-sodding of the 3rd Tee box by our own course staff, not to mention their refurbishment of the 11th Tee box and the general good look of our course at the moment is worthy of celebration.

The time-sheet will open at 4 pm on Monday 29th April 2019.

Visitors can book online at https://www.brsgolf.com/skerries/opens_home.php
or through the Pro Shop or Office.

We would like to invite any local business or Club members to sponsor a Tee Box or Green, with appropriate publicity, at €50 each.
Any member who is not available to play but would like to be part of the day through sponsoring a Tee Box or a Green are most welcome.
