Uden Cup Team unlucky against Corrstown

Hard luck to our Uden Cup Team.

A tight match went the way of Corrstown 2:3.  Alistair MacMahon and Pat Kenny got a nice win away but Corrstown had sent a very strong team to Skerries, where they managed to sneak two wins.  Stan Pyke and Eddie Ryan’s 3 and 2 win was a positive but overall Corrstown proved too good on the day.

Hard luck to Gerry Lloyd and co-managers.

Final of the Easter Snooker Doubles Tournament raises money for a new cloth for the Club Snooker Table

Congratulations to John McDonnell and Eddie Williams

who won the Final of the Easter Snooker doubles tournament on Monday 29th April.

Mike Weldon and Willie Prendergast were honourably defeated by John and Eddie in a tight final.  The first frame was won on the pink, the next went to a re-spotted black and the final frame was won on the blue.

A big thank you to the sponsors, Austin Gill, John McDonnell, Mike Weldon, Paul Kenny, Willie Prendergast and Anthony Doyle.

The event raised €170 towards the cost of the new cloth. The total raised is €490, an excellent response to the clubs request to assist with finances this year.  Thanks to all contributors.

In September a doubles competition will be run for all members.  The format will be a handicap league with 1 doubles frame, and four short rack ( 6 reds ) singles frames per round.  Entries will be invited in August.

The Snooker Committee wishes one and all a wonderful Summer.

Irish Mixed Foursomes Team unlucky against Beaverstown

Hard luck to Skerries

who went down 3.5-1.5 to Beaverstown in the second round of the Irish Mixed Foursomes on Sunday.

The standard of golf was excellent and a few putts here and there was all that separated the two teams in the end.  Best of luck to Beaverstown for the rest of the competition.

Thanks to a great Skerries panel.  Photo shows our home team on the first tee.
