(managed by Pauline Gaughran) in Rush today. They lost out to the Blackbush Golf Club 3:2 on a bitterly cold windy day with the deciding match going to the 18th.
Well done to our Mary McKenna Trophy team
(managed by Gráinne O’Connor) who had a great win over the Island in the away leg of their first round on Friday. Wins for Derval Sloan & Noreen Giblin, Vivienne Donnelly & Fionnuala Mooney and Gráinne O’Connor & Hilda Cussen give Skerries a 3:2 lead going into the home leg in Skerries on 3rd May.
Very hard luck to our Barton Cup Team who went down 4-1 to some exceptional golf on Saturday. Both matches in Skerries went to the 18th but home advantage proved decisive for Roganstown in the end. Most of team managers, Michael and Paul Branagan’s, squad will now move on to the Jimmy Bruen which Skerries hosts in June and are looking forward to a good performance.
Our Caterer Tommy Fitzgerald has a lovely menu on for the upcoming Easter Weekend, offering both two and three course options followed by Tea/Coffee.

The third and final match in Malahide went down to the fifth extra hole with super golf played by both teams. In the end the Skerries pair of Sylvia Alcock and Miley Plunkett held their nerve to secure the vital third win of the tie.
Earlier (much earlier!) Joan O’Brien & Martin Coleman and Noreen Giblin & Peter Kenny had won in Skerries playing some great golf.
This left the three matches in Malahide to decide the tie. Skerries met very strong opposition as we have come to expect from Malahide and the first two matches were lost with Aisling Ryan & Mark O’Donoghue and Bridgeen Kiernan & Paul O’Donoghue giving the home side a good battle.
It was two matches all with Sylvia and Miley’s match suddenly becoming the one to watch. WhatsApp was used to great effect allowing those in Skerries to follow the match blow by blow and delight in a great win in the end – Final result 3:2 to Skerries.
Next up is Beaverstown Golf Club with three matches in Skerries and two away.
Both teams played super golf, with the Skerries team of Robert Kenny (Captain) and Nathan Grimes, Ethan McGarry and Darragh Early, and Substitute Liam McGovern coming out on top with a 5 up aggregate.
Ethan and Darragh won 3&2 and Robert and Nathan were called in when 2 up through 16.
Congratulations to the team and their manager, Jim McDonnell, and a big thank you for the great support from the many Members who came out to watch.
