Family day in the Golf Club from 2 PM on Monday 7th August

We are delighted to advise that we will host a family day in the Golf Club from 2 PM on Monday 7th August for all juveniles/juniors and Cadets. We will have a 9 hole scramble on the front 9 until 4PM.

For parents or guardians who wish to play you do not have to be a member of the Club but it would be great if you had a handicap.

If you do not have one maybe granny or grandad or aunt or uncle has one and would play.

The time sheet will open on Thursday 27th July and we will have one juv/jun with a handicap of 0 to 28 and one juv/jun with a handicap of 29 to 54 on each team and each junior will have an adult so we will have a Team of four.

Lets get to meet each other and help develop an even better Club spirit among our young members.

For our cadets and younger family members we will have a fun day with different competitions on the practice ground from 3.30PM like putting and chipping.

We will have a burger/chicken and a drink for all children. This is your day so lets make the most of it and trust that everybody enjoys themselves.

We look forward to seeing as many as possible on the day.

If you require any further information please contact one of our Junior Committee members –

Skerries Golf Club, founded in 1905, with a championship 18 hole parkland golf course is located in the beautiful seaside town of Skerries and is just twenty minutes north of Dublin

Renowned for its warm welcome, hospitality and fine food.  Skerries Golf Club is currently seeking a new catering service provider who has the drive, capacity and ambition to deliver on current high standards.

Skerries Golf Club has a vibrant membership, a strong social scene throughout the year, together with many regular societies and regular golfing fixtures, the majority of which will require professional catering support.

If you would like to declare your expression of interest please email a cover letter outlining your experience and qualifications together with an up to date CV to: generalmanager@skerriesgolfclub.ie

Final date for expressions of interest:      Friday 4th August 2017.

One Governing Body

The GUI and the ILGU have made significant progress in the discussions around the creation of One Governing Body (OGB) for Golf in Ireland, since the Discussions began in November 2015.

The Discussions Group for One Governing Body would like to hear from golfers and former golfers who are playing less or have stopped playing to understand the initiatives that OGB could undertake to attract you back, or to make it easier for you to play more. We know your time is constrained and precious.  We will keep the session to an hour and a half max, but would really value your input.

You are invited to attend one of three sessions in Clontarf, Cork or Strandhill Golf Clubs.

The separate dates and venues are listed below. Please follow the links below to register for the session most suitable to you:

– Tuesday 11th July (6-7:30pm), Clontarf Golf Club – Click HERE

– Friday 11th August (6-7:30pm), Cork Golf Club – Click HERE

– Monday 14th August (6-7:30pm), Strandhill Golf Club – Click HERE

The consultation meeting will be facilitated by Jane Williams, who is a highly experienced independent consultant. Jane will facilitate the meeting in a way which allows attendees to share open and honest feedback on the topics being discussed. Comments and thoughts shared by participants on the draft proposal will not be attributed back to any individual.

In early 2017, the DG established eleven Working Groups (WG) in areas of acute importance, such as Volunteerism, Championships and Game Development, to name but a few. Eight WG reports have now been received and key themes are emerging.

In the initial round of consultation in April/May 2016, the Discussions Group (DG) received strong feedback that OGB is a good idea and if done well, will provide a solid base for strengthening the game of golf in Ireland into the future.

We wish to thank you, in advance, for your cooperation and we look forward to meeting you at the consultation session.
