MEN’S MATCHPLAY COMPETITIONS 2022

Entry to the Men’s Fourball Matchplay, Men’s Seniors Fourball Matchplay, Liam Delaney Cup (Mixed Foursomes) & Men’s Foursomes Club Championships is now open. Members can enter these Competitions up to 11pm on Sunday 17th April via the ClubV1 and HowDidIDo Apps or alternatively via the computers in the Pro Shop or beside the Men’s Locker Room. There is no qualifying for these competitions. The Men’s Seniors Fourball competition will be open to those aged 50 or over on or before the closing date of the Sunday 17th April.

To enter via ClubV1:

• Click the menu in the top right corner of the screen.
• Select Knockouts.
• Pick the Competition you wish to enter and click the Down Arrow. Click View Details.
• Click Enter Knockout and enter the appropriate names.

To enter via HowDidIDo:

• Click the menu in the top right corner of the screen.
• Select Knockouts.
• Pick the Competition you wish to enter and click View Info.
• Click Enter Knockout and enter the appropriate names.

To enter via Pro Shop/Locker Room Computers:
• Enter you Membership Number as you would to enter any Competition.
• Select Knockouts (4 Events).
• Select the Competition you wish to enter.
• Click Create Team and enter the appropriate names.

The entry fee of €5.00 will be deducted for the competitions upon entry.

Men’s club deferred AGM date

Owing to unforeseen circumstances the Men’s Club AGM due to take place on Wednesday November 21st, has now been deferred to Wednesday November 28th @ 7.30pm.

The deferred date will ensure compliance with the Club Constitution which requires the Men’s Club AGM be held no later than the 30th November.

Members are reminded that any nomination for election as a Member or Officer of the Men’s Club Committee must be sent in writing to the Administration Officer, Men’s Club, at least eight days before the Annual General Meeting of the Men’s Club.

Rules of Golf – Effective 2019

2019 Rules of Golf

Golf’s new Rules have been published by The R&A and the USGA ahead of coming into effect on 1 January 2019.

For the first time, a new Player’s Edition of the Rules of Golf is being introduced to provide a shorter, more user-friendly version of the Rules for golfers at all levels of the sport.  Printed copies of The Player’s Edition are available in our Pro Shop and the Player’s Edition , the Rules of Golf and Official Guide are all available now on The R&A’s website and on The R&A’s new 2019 Rules of Golf App (iOS and Android).

Various other resources, including a Visual Search and an updated Rules quiz, are also available to help golfers, Committees and Referees to familiarize themselves with the new Rules of Golf, both on The R&A’s website and on the App. Additional resources, including an updated Rules Academy and a Committee Toolkit, will be added in the coming months.

Skerries Golf Club Win Leinster Alliance Irish Times Shield

Congratulations to Mick Ahern, David Garrigan, Sam Devey and Kingsley Lewis who won the Leinster Alliance Irish Times Shield today in Powerscourt Golf Club, Co. Wicklow.

The Leinster Alliance Irish Times Shield was first played for in 1927 and has run every year since. With 3 of the best 4 stableford scores contributing to the overall team, there were 20 teams competing for the prestigious Shield. Sam Devey (38pts), Mick Ahern (34pts), David Garrigan (34pts), and Kingsley Lewis (34pts) gave Skerries Golf Club a total of 106pts, winning the Shield on a count back on the final card.

Sam Devey’s score of 34pts gross won the overall gross individual prize.

JOHN CARROLL – CAPTAIN’S PRIZE WINNER

Congratulations to John Carroll (H/Cap 18), Winner of this year’s Captains (Dominic Henry) Prize, with a score of 71 Nett Last 9, just beating Dave Worrall who also had a score of 71 Nett. John, winning on the basis of his Back Nine score.

Great to see some of our aspiring Junior Players amongst the winners – Robert Kenny (H/Cap 11) was 9th overall with a score of 73 Nett Last 6; and Ethan McGarry (H/Cap 8) winner of the Junior 1 Category with a score of 75 Nett.

Ethan (H/Cap 8) then went onto win the Challenge Cup on Monday, in the Junior Final Day with a score of 78 Gross Last 9; with Robert Kenny (H/Cap 10) runner up also with a score of 78 Gross.
