Results of Ladies Matches – Junior Cup & Minor Cup

Commiserations to both the Ladies Junior Cup and Minor Cup teams who were beaten by Howth and Ashbourne respectively on last Sunday. Both teams met with very stiff competition and fought bravely, but unfortunately were not successful.

Well done to both teams and their managers for making it as far as they did.

The Challenge Cup had a great victory over Greenore with Jenny Carron winning on the 12th, Catherine Jones winning on 13th, Jean Whyte winning on the 14th and Catherine Noone and Ann Ahern being called in on 15th and 16th holes respectively.

Congratulations to Jo McEvoy and Fionnula Mooney and to the players on a comprehensive win and thanks to reserves and caddies for their efforts and support.

Revive Active Fourball

Commiserations to Revive Active Fourball team who lost overall to County Louth Golf Club on Bank Holiday Monday.

The home pairings of Tara Duggan and Elaine McGloughlin and Pauline Gaughran and Mary Taaffe put up a brave fight but unfortunately lost on 16th with Joan McDonnell and Ronnie O’Loghlen being called in on the 18th.

The away pairings, Ciara Boylan and Joan O Brien fought hard coming back from 3 down twice to lose on the last putt on the 18th to go back to all square and head down the 19th, and then who knows what would have happened??

Sheila McGloughlin and Jenny Carron played extremely well and were called in on 15th having just gone 3 up with 3 to play.

Well done to Team Managers Ailish Guinan and Aileen Lane and thanks to all for their efforts.

Ladies Intermediate Cup

Commiserations to Team Managers, Vivienne Donnelly and Mervyn Frazer and team on their loss in the match on Saturday against Ashbourne in Elm Green.

A valiant fight was put up against a strong Ashbourne team with Aisling Ryan, Mary Dowling and Pauline Gaughran meeting strong opposition and unfortunately losing their matches.  Sylvia Alcock won on 15th and Nuala McMahon was 2 Up and called in after 16th.

Well done to all for their efforts and a big thank you to caddies for their help and to team managers who struggled with last minute cry offs (Mary Taaffe sprained her ankle) trying to get a team in place.

Well done and hard luck.
